School Find introduces Father John Therry School Balmain in Balmain, for all your education and learning needs.
One of the features that people love about the school is the strong sense of community. Each class has a nominated parent to co-ordinate social and fund raising events.
The Parents and Friends Association meets the third TUESDAY of every month during the term. It is a dynamic and strong organization which works with great energy to create a sense of community among the parents and raise funds to give our children extra educational and recreational resources. The P&F also runs the tuckshop each Friday. Coffee and tea are served to parents and many take the opportunity to linger and chat.
One of the main fund raising activities is the Balmain Art & Craft Show held each year in October/November. The Art & Craft Show Committee meets regularly to to plan this event. During the show many talented parents contribute their services in a variety of ways. It is a time of great cameraderie and amazing transformation of the school.
Parents also contribute to classroom activities in literacy and numeracy and class liturgies. Book week is also a time of great fun and themed celebrations when parents joined in the dress-up parade and school themed lunch.
Parent participation in school excursions is always welcomed particularly in the lower grades. The smooth running of the Cross Country day, Athletics' and Swimming Carnivals is assisted by the contribution of parents. The 'Birchgrove Dash' sees the more nimble mums and dads don the running shoes in a dash to the finish line!
A Parents Advisory Committee has been established and meets once a term with the principal to advise on a number of issues including finance and enrolment.
Welcome to Father John Therry School Balmain one of the popular educators in your Balmain area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other's uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
